2019 EFPM ‘Fair Play Flame’ Award (to an athlete or a team under 18)

Alex competes in biathlon and won two gold medals and a silver one at the Junior World Championships in Osrblie 2019, Slovakia. Alex is known as an excellent young athlete who has outstanding attitude towards Sport and Fair Play values.
We put special focus on his sporting behaviour since he performed an act of Fair Play during the  National Cup for Juniors in Biathlon at Pokljuka plateau on 23.3.2019. During the race, Alex accidently stepped on the ski pole of his opponent Tilen Gregorka, who lost the pole. Alex stopped, gave his own ski pole to Tilen and then went back to take the ski pole of Tilen and continue the race with it. He showed a very responsible attitude towards his colleague and he performed an act which many younger as well as elite athletes noticed and reported about it in the media.

On behalf of Alex the award was accepted by Miroslav Cerar, Ambassador for Sport, Tolerance and Fair Play in the Republic of Slovenia, EFPM Vice-President.
