Azerbaijan Badminton Federation awarded with EFPM “Spirit of Fair Play” Award

The Azerbaijan Badminton Federation is very active in showing the effort to face any endeavors and always excited to try something new. To spread awareness and attract future champions, the federation is especially focusing on special needs group of people that struggle physically, mentally, financially, or even socially. One of the most outstanding events was the tournament called “Sport is Life” for teenagers in the Correctional Facility of the Penitentiary Service. The aim of the event was to contribute to the efficient organisation of leisure time of these children and their integration into society. The corresponding material and technical equipment and most importantly a Coach were provided by Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. Another important project is “Fun Inclusive Badminton”. The main purpose of the event is to create interest among people from the vulnerable class of the population, to promote the accessibility of this sport for everyone. During the festival, a virtual reality program equipped with special technical equipment for people with physical disabilities to play badminton was demonstrated.

After the Award Ceremony, Mrs Aydan Mammadhasanova Head of Marketing Department of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation said: It is a pleasure for me to be here today.

We are very happy that we have already started projects in the direction of inclusive badminton and in penitentiary.

On behalf of our federation, I would like to thank the European Fair Play Movement for these important projects. I believe that together we will achieve the development of the sports ecosystem by promoting the principles of Fair Play.
