MARIAN JUNG (SVK) received THE EUROPEAN FAIR PLAY PLAQUE OF MERIT AND DIPLOMA 2024 UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE EUROPEAN OLYMPIC COMMITTEES

On 4 June 2023, during competitions in Žnina (Poland), Marián Jung, multiple world and European champion in water motoring, was involved in an accident with his greatest rival, Italian Giuseppe Rossi, the most successful representative of this attractive sport. At high speed, their boats came close to each other, causing a loss of thrust. The boats went airborne, performed several somersaults and the drivers fell headfirst into the water. Marián Jung got off the boat immediately. Rossi, however, was unconscious and remained under water for more than 6 minutes after the accident. It was a fight in which the seconds were decisive. Thanks to the initiative and help of Marian Jung and his team, he was pulled out from under the steering wheel and resuscitation began. "I am convinced that if my colleagues and I had not reacted, if we had not helped the two drivers who did not know how to turn the boat, Rossi would not have been able to compete with us. .... It was a strange feeling. You prepare yourself to do your best and in a moment everything changes. It was the biggest victory of my life," recalls Jung.

Rossi was in a coma for two weeks after the accident, from which he fortunately recovered. When Rossi recovered enough to take part in the F 500 Series final in Cremona in September, he thanked Jung for his help.
