Niccolò BATTISTUZZO (ITA) with the EFPM “FAIR PLAY FLAME” DIPLOMA 2024

On 25th April 2024 the "Jesolo Tournament - Sixth Fregonese Memorial - First Kicks 2015 Category" was held, in which the Venetian team ASD Polisportiva Sacca Fisola also participated. The young red and white team was playing a match against a team from Treviso, Sant'Elena, when one of the young players on the pitch passed the ball to his teammate, but hit an opponent in the stomach. The boy fell to the ground, but the ball bounced to the feet of Niccolò Battistuzzo, who found himself all alone in front of the opposition goal. It would have been an easy goal if the Venetian hadn't turned round, seen his opponent lying on the ground, stopped the ball, left it there and, together with all his team-mates, ran towards him to make sure he was all right.

The episode was understandably a source of pride for his parents, Roberto Battistuzzo and Manuela Reghelini, who said: "He is a very good boy, with a heart, cheerful, kind.”

Returning to the gesture, Manuela Reghelini concluded: "It came to him spontaneously, he explained to me that he wanted to be sure that his opponent was OK and that the 'adults' would take care of it". Coach Alessandro Fae was also pleased: "It was a really nice gesture, these are the values we are trying to teach".
